... Since I last posted a journal entry. The passed year has been filled with all the new experiences that comes with becoming a parent, and I haven't had as much time or energy to pour into my paintings as I would have liked to. Anyhow, I'm now officially on parental leave, which seem to be even more time-consuming. I'm gonna try to discipline myself and find time to paint whenever I can.

I don't know how many of my watchers read these journals, but I'd like to know if any of you would like me to maybe update these more often and write about my process and thoughts in general? I'm also wondering if any of you are following me on instagram/facebook. I tend to post wip-pics there if anyone is interested.

The Sleeper by DanielKarlsson
The Sleeper
Digital, Corel Painter, 2015.

Started out with some ambition, but grew tired halfway and kept it a bit rough. Still happy with the overall mood and expression. Used a photo of my son as reference.

I find your painting very inspirative :) I wish you never stop making art, but I understand raising a child is kind of art on its own :)
Lycka till!

Congrats on your baby boy. Sorry about all the lol's, but your artwork is fantastic, some made me laugh, some were odd, and some were creepy, but I like it. It was refreshing to see. Thank you Daniel!!

Hehe... Thank you! Swedens very few artschools have a very distinct and narrow idea of what is considered art. They are usually more about abstract paintings/concepts and performance art, in which the social/political idea and message is more important than the actual piece. My work probably falls more into the illustrative category, but the illustration-programs are not really in line with what i do either. For work-samples, when applying, they want you to do logotypes and layout-stuff.
